ONLINE – ACT & TAS YP Workshop – Two islands, similar challenges?

Tuesday 25 May 2021
19:00-20:30 AEST

A tale of two islands explores the similarities between Australia’s island state of Tasmania and the inland island (surrounded by NSW) of the Australian capital Territory. What may appear as strange bedfellows, Tasmania and the ACT share multiple synergies when planning for the future. Both have seen increasing populations resulting in increasing pressures around housing choice and affordability, transportation, employment, education, sustainability, and social well-being. Overlay the anticipated challenges of Climate change, and the projected impacts to our quality of life and standards of liveability reinforce the need for young planners to be at the forefront of this discussion. The planning of Tasmania and the ACT also highlight the importance of planning for regional and smaller cities. As our larger capital cities increase in size, people should have a viable choice of where to live without being disadvantaged.

Please join the Tasmanian and ACT young planners for an online workshop and Q&A!

We will explore this topic and identify key areas for ongoing future focus.

We hope to host a robust discussion and, most importantly, make connections share challenges and build future pathways.
